Saskatchewan’s International Skilled Worker Program has two streams – Occupation In-Demand and Express Entry. Here’s a brief overview of each:
- Occupation In-Demand Stream: This stream is for foreign nationals who have work experience in an occupation that is in demand in Saskatchewan. To be eligible, you must have a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer or meet other eligibility requirements, such as having a language score of at least CLB 4 and a minimum of one year of work experience in an eligible occupation. You do not need to have an Express Entry profile to apply for this stream.
- Express Entry Stream: This stream is for foreign nationals who have an active Express Entry profile and are interested in living and working in Saskatchewan. To be eligible, you must meet the eligibility requirements for one of the three federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, or the Canadian Experience Class. You must also score at least 60 points on Saskatchewan’s point assessment grid and have work experience in an occupation that is in demand in Saskatchewan.
Both streams have a point assessment grid that awards points for factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. Applicants who score enough points will receive an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan. Once you receive a provincial nomination, you can apply for permanent residence to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
It’s important to note that the eligibility requirements and application processes for both streams can change over time. Therefore, it’s recommended that you thoroughly research and consult with a professional immigration lawyer or consultant before applying for either stream.
