Canada ranks 5th amongst OECD countries for best work-life balance and wealth generation, amongst other things.
A new study (July 2022) has ranked Canada fifth among OECD countries for having the best work-life balance.
Compiled by Tiplalti, the financial technology global organisation, the study ranked the top 10 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries based on their working environments and benefits, using metrics such as average hours worked in a year, annual salary, tax rates and pensions.
Switzerland ranked highest, having the average annual salary of the countries analyzed and the highest average pension assets per person.
The United States, with the lowest combined tax rate in the top 10, ranked second followed by Iceland, Norway and Canada.
The report concluded that Canadians work an average of 1,696 hours in a given year, earning $43,540 USD on average, with a combined income, sales and corporate tax rate of 64 per cent, and $41,987 in average pension assets per person.
The top 10 list is as follows:
- Switzerland

The 2022 Work Life Index considered 51 U.S cities and 49 cities from the rest of the world, “rather than being a liveability index or a ranking of the best cities to work in, the study seeks to show which cities provide the healthiest work-life balance for their citizens,”
